Study on optical properties of carbon nanodots by annealing of rice powder as a carbon source

Abstract In this work, we present the fabrication process and analyze optical properties of carbon nanodots (C-dots) from rice powder taken Kupang regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The was annealed at 400oC for 30 minutes to obtain a black powder. This sample (0.5 gram, 3 mL ethanol) sonicated an hour, ethanol (10 mL) added again centrifugation 1000 rpm 20 minutes. Furthermore, solution filtered realize C-dots. By irradiation with UV lamp 365 nm, C-dots emitted blue emission color, they have absorption peaks wavelength 276 nm. Upon excitation (? exc ) 350 their fluorescence (FL) spectrum range is 360 650 nm maxima FL intensity 436 corresponding color as well high photostability. appearance O-H C=O bonds indicates that surface coated hydroxyl carbonyl groups. Therefore, excellent photostability these can pave large opportunity explore functional material in electronic devices such sensors, light emitting diodes, so on forth.
